Mother Nature treated athletes to a Sunny Saturday and A Soggy Sunday at the always popular Gravenhurst Triathlon & Duathlon Weekend.
Sunny Saturday at Gravenhurst
Jim Sunners of Niagara Falls, and Kristin Marchant of Newmarket, Ontario kicked off the day with victories in the Gravenhurst Olympic Distance Triathlon.
Sunners, in the 50-54 age category, shows that age is certainly no barrier every time he races. He used his usual strong bike and run to separate himself from the rest of the field to top the podium in 2:10:37 – improving upon his sixth place finish last year.
Meanwhile, Marchant took her second win in a row after winning last week in Huronia. She got off to the early lead with a 23:07 swim, then added the top bike of 1:08:35 to easily take the win in 2:16:08. Read Kristin’s Gravenhurst Race Report.

Mike Cheliak’s Africa Yoga Project Service Mission
Mike Cheliak from My Sports Shooter has dedicated three weeks in August to a service mission in Moshe Tanzania with the Africa Yoga Project (AYP). AYP educates, empowers, elevates and employs youth from Africa using the transformational practice of yoga. Before leaving for Africa, Mike hopes to raise $4000 for the organization. Mike covers all costs for travel and programming so this fundraising is directly for the project. AYP is in the process of building a community centre facility in Moshe Tanzania and Mike will be working hands on to assist. Please support AYP and Mike by making a donation to this fundraising page.
