Firstly, and most notably, the event will make its debut at the Welland International Flat Water Center (WIFC)! This is the same site where the Skechers Niagara Falls Barrelman takes place. Features of the WIFC include:

  • Grandstand seating and a spectator friendly swim course
  • Ample parking space for participants and spectators
  • A short run to the transition area from swim and much more

By moving to the new site, we also have some exciting course changes to announce that will improve the overall race experience.

Saturday Swim Courses – As in previous Rose City Triathlon iterations, we have maintained the popular time trial format which takes place in the calm waters of the Welland Recreational Waterway.

Give-It-A-Tri start time now 11:30am. This will allow Sprint racers in the morning to wrap up the day before the Give-It-A-Tri racers take the course.

Duathletes will now start with the 2.5km run.  This change will create some exciting head to head action with Triathletes as both races will complete the final 5km run together.

The final 2.5km of Saturday’s Bike courses on Canal Bank Road will be CLOSED between Ontario St and Townline Tunnel road.  This will allow spectators to see athletes returning towards the Transition Area before making their final turn towards the WIFC. This is also a great addition for athlete’s safety as racers will have a traffic free road for their final turn-around on and the road was freshly paved in 2015!

Sunday’s Long Course run will pass the grandstands THREE TIMES! Athletes, make sure your supporters bring their cameras and noise makers!

Dedicated Parking right beside the Transition Area!  Access to the WIFC will be via shaw road ONLY. See our parking map

If you want to see the WIFC in action, check out our Skechers NF Barrelman video as both races share the same Swim and Transition Area.
