Barrelman Merchandise (for a limited time)!
Owing to high demand and selling out on race weekend, we have worked with Louis Garneau to open a post-race store to purchase 2017 jerseys.
The store will be opened for a limited time – until midnight on October 9th. Don’t miss out!
All purchased merchandise will be shipped directly to MultiSport Canada by Louis Garneau one month after the store closes. We will be sure to get the jerseys out the door to you just as quick as possible. There is a $15.00 shipping fee at the checkout process, and that is to cover the cost of ensuring your items will be shipped with tracking information. U.S. athletes all prices are in Cdn funds, which is approximately 20% less after conversion.
To visit the store, please click the following link: https://ppr.louisgarneau.com/barrelman
Much like the Louis Garneau store, Barrelman hoodies are also available for purchase until October 9th at midnight.
Hoodies sell for $70 CDN (approximately $57 USD) + $15 shipping. All packages will be shipped with a tracking number. Please see the link for sizing specs as the hoodies do run large http://www.sanmarcanada.com/specsheets/ATC_F201.pdf.
If you are interested in a hoodie, please email Jan Thomas at the MultiSport Canada office jan@multisportcanada.com and provide her with your order. She will be back in touch to confirm your purchase and to collect payment. Credit cards and e-transfers are accepted.
Ambassador Team Reports
Since race day we have been working on a number of changes for 2018 and are pleased to tell you about a few of them. We will also be looking over your survey responses to see if you have any comments or suggestions that will help us make 2018 even better.
As promised we were monitoring the bike course on race day to assess the athlete experience on a number of levels. The day after the race we went to work and contacted the various regional stakeholders requesting changes based on our observations. We have had a couple of variations for the bike course on file anticipating the day we would need to accommodate larger numbers. We are happy to announce we have received tentative approval for these changes. This new course will allow us to increase the race entry cap to 1,250 athletes. Improvements are: elimination of the two-way bike traffic on Feeder Rd., reroute of the Niagara section to eliminate rougher sections and replace with the smoother Netherby Rd to the Niagara Parkway and extending the Niagara Parkway section from 9km to 17km, a much more scenic ride and the new course will be 89.2km. Click to see the New Bike Course.
This will allow athletes to have a more enjoyable swim by selecting a wave that fits with their projected overall race time. Athletes can pick an earlier wave if they will be finishing in 5 hours or less, a middle wave if you will be in the 5+ to 6 hour finish range and a later wave if you will be in the 6+ hour range. If you choose not to select your wave we will place you in a wave based on our average projections for various age groups.
We have moved the start time up to 8:30am. This will still allow us to keep the same basic shuttle bus schedule, make the swim waves smaller and spread them out. This will have the effect of spreading out more cyclists for the start of the bike and also relieve some of the congestion on the swim. Please note: No matter what wave you are in you will still have 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete the swim.
Yes, there will be more of these everywhere!
Many of you are already members of the Rev3 Niagara Falls Barrelman group and know we have been very engaged in talking with athletes as well as answering questions. The one option a “Group” page does not give us is the ability to post Facebook Live feeds. We do intend to have more facebook Live broadcasts and have therefore created a new Barrelman Niagara Falls Facebook page, which will also be a place for athletes to ask questions, post comments and interact. Please “Like” the new page and look for updates and information.
Thank you to those who have sent emails and/or posted positive constructive feedback on how we might be able to improve the 2018 version of Barrelman. We are going to look at and take into account every suggestion when we conduct our team debrief and planning for 2018. We are asking everyone to please complete the survey as well so we can see what worked and where we need to improve.
If you are planning on returning in 2018 and would like the best pricing option register early and tell your friends.
