All Woman Training with Mommy’s & Babe’s in Motion

Hi! I’m Kelly…and I’m a tri-athlete! Wow – those are words I never thought I would say!

Back in 2012, the idea of completing a triathlon seemed impossible. After the most challenging working year of my career, I was out of shape and weighed more than I care to remember. So that fall I decided that I needed to make a change – and I did…I lost 30 lbs and I also started working out. After hiding on my treadmill in my basement for a few months, I joined Mommy’s and Babe’s in Motion (MBIM) to train for my first triathlon.

That summer, I got on a bike for the first time in 20 years, I started running outside and got back in the pool. All along, I kept thinking about how good it would feel to cross that finish line – and let me tell you…when I crossed that line – and I knew that had accomplished a huge goal – it felt AWESOME.

Being a part of MBIM is about so much more that doing the triathlons…for me, it is about pushing myself beyond my comfort zone, doing things I never thought I could, and being supported by an amazing group of women along the way.

I will never forget one bike workout my second year with the team where my body was done – I had nothing left in my legs to get up the final hill. I was even trying to figure out in my head how I could get back to our starting point. But then I realized that I couldn’t give up because my teammates were at the top of the hill cheering me on. And when I finally made it to the top, I realized that these amazing women helped me achieve something I never thought possible.

Joining MBIM has helped me to find my inner athlete. In the off season, I now do boot camp 2-3 times a week. And while I’m still not at my ideal weight, I am in better shape than I’ve ever been. I’m stronger and faster than I was 4 years ago when I sat in a parking lot trying to decide whether or not I should get out of the car for my first MBIM workout. I’m so glad I did.

Like Kelly and many other women with Mommy’s and Babe’s in Motion, you can become at triathlete too at the Ontario Women’s Triathlon
