Swim Course Description

One of the most exciting swim courses Ontario has to offer! A canal swim in clean clear water. The water temperature should be in the 68F to 72F range. A 2,000m single loop clockwise swim with great viewing for spectators. Calm waters and a roaring crowd will greet you as you exit the swim and run directly up the Grandstands into the transition area!

Getting between Canal Bank St and Colborne Rd

For 2019, the Dain City Forks Rd bridge has been demolished. Athletes will be required to cross a 300m no passing zone on the fitness path. Please obey marshals directions and do not ride aero when passing around the bollards. Instructions will be given on race morning.

The bike course is flat and FAST!!

Athletes will exit Transition onto Townline Tunnel Rd towards Canal Bank Rd. Athletes will start heading South to the turn onto Forks Rd. From there, the course heads West towards the Wainfleet area. You can usually expect a bit of a headwind in this section. Athletes then start to head towards Lake Erie towards Lowbanks. From here you will head East along the scenic and meandering Lakeshore until heading back North towards Wainfleet and then finally back towards Welland and the WIFC.

There will be a Bottle Exchange on Station Rd. just north of Lakeshore Rd. at approx. 30km.  Water in sport-top water bottles as well as F2C GLYCO-DURANCE™ in cycling water bottles will be available – click HERE for more information on F2C GLYCO-DURANCE™.

A good portion of Feeder road is tree lined on both sides, which should offer nice protection from excessive sun or wind. This section also has some freshly paved shoulders which athletes are encouraged to ride on.

Run – 15km (2 laps)

The Run Course is comprised of two laps along the fitness paths that border the canal. The course takes runners past the finish line grandstands twice per lap which will make for an exciting and energetic spectating area!

There will be Aid Stations approximately every 1.5km serving F2C HYDRA-DURANCE™ – click HERE for more information on F2C HYDRA-DURANCE™, water,  and Endurance Tap Gels.

Course Description

Soak up the roar of the crowd in the grandstands with 2 laps of a very spectator fun and friendly run course. The entirety of the run takes place on the fitness path next to the Welland Canal. The course if fast and flat but be sure to stay hydrated if the Sun is out as there is not a lot of shade. We highly encourage you to wear a hat and take a sponge and plenty of fluids at the water stations.

Exiting TA

Upon exiting transition you will make a right turn at the 3-way junction. For your successive laps you simply follow the cones/arrows.

Lap Vs Finish 

Each runner will pass the area labeled Lap/Finish twice during the LC run. The first time, you follow the arrow pointing towards lap, the 2nd time you follow the arrow towards the finish.
