In 2015, I competed in my first MultiSport Canada race at the Toronto Island to try something new. A little over an hour later, I crossed the finish line with a big smile, found myself standing on the podium, and I was instantly hooked. The energy I felt that day was incredible!
As a newly-minted cyclist at the time, having just returned from a 6-day charity ride from Toronto to Montreal, I was searching for a different kind of challenge. I come from a track/ cross country background having participated in numerous running races in the past. My partner is a triathlete but since I’ve never been the most talented in the water, duathlon as a new sport naturally peaked my interests. Run, bike, run, why not?
I explored my passion for racing, and competed in every distance from sprint to half-Ironman. As an endurance athlete, I’ve favoured the standard distance which led me to compete in the 2017 ITU MultiSport World Championships in Penticton, BC. Last year, I was fortunate enough to qualify for this year’s Worlds in Denmark. I continue to grow my love for the sport that is very much rooted in all the amazing things that MultiSport Canada has provided me. This year, I’ll be pushing my boundaries further and will be focusing on the sprint distances.
I can honestly say that joining the MultiSport Canada family is one of the best decisions I’ve made. It’s wonderful to consistently be part of the support system from MultiSport Canada – the same that I experienced on my first duathlon race. They’ve given me a positive introduction into the sport that I will never forget and I’m thrilled to be part of a community that will create the same positive experience for every new and returning athlete.
I’m honoured to be back this year as a 2018 MultiSport Canada Ambassador, and I am excited to help grow the triathlon and duathlon community alongside a team of dedicated athletes who share the same passion for the sport and the brand as I do.
