Running Races
2008 Race Distances, Categories, Awards and Race Day Insurance Fees
Race Day Insurance Included in Race Fees
MultiSport Canada is a proud member of OAT and all of our races are OAT sanctioned. This year we have incorporated the OAT One-Day Membership fee into our race fees and there are no additional fees beyond what is posted on the website. MultiSport Canada Races
Triathlon Series
Give-It-A-Tri
These races are an introduction to the three-discipline sport of triathlon,
with distances that are not too intimidating. An average race will
be
a 400m Swim, 15km Bike, 2.5km Run.
Sprint
These races will vary in length. A typical race would be a 750m Swim, 30km Bike, 7km Run
Olympic Distance
Compete in the same distance event that Canada brought home a gold medal in Sydney! This world recognized distance offers a challenge to both the experienced and inexperienced. The distances in this event are: 1.5km Swim, 40km Bike, and 10km Run.
Half Iron Distance Triathlon and Duathlon
Bracebridge is the site of our Half Iron Distance races. The Half Iron Triathlon is a 2,000m Swim, 90km Bike and 21.1km Run. The Half Iron Duathlon is a 7.5km Run, 90km Bike and 21.1km Run.
Relay
The relay format will be a part of every MultiSport Canada event and
is a way to get involved in the sport, have fun with your friends
or tune
up your swim, bike or run. Teams can be made of one, two or three members
and be all female, all male or coed. All relay teams will compete
equally
for race awards.
Duathlon Series
These races are a combination of Run/Bike/Run.Most course distances are a percentage of the International Distance duathlon with the first run being longer than the second run.
Sprint Distance
Event distance may vary slightly depending on venue. A Typical sprint would be a 4k Run, 30k Bike, 4k Run
International Distance
International Distance Duathlon race consists of a 10k Run, 40k Bike, 5k Run.
Off-Road Triathlon and Dirty Duathlon
These races are a variation on typical Triathlon and Duathlon in that the bike portions are held on trails. These races are held at Calabogie Peaks Resort.
Kids of Steel (KOS) Triathlon and Duathlon Series
These races are an introduction to the world of triathlon and duathlon for kids below the age of 18. The emphasis is on fun and learning about the sport. The race distances posted below are the maximum per age group as per Triathlon Canada and ITU guidelines. Please check the individual races to see if an age group is racing that day and the actual distance.

KOS Rules should be read by all participants and their parents.
Race and Age Group Categories
Athletes With A Disability (AWAD)
All MultiSport Canada races will all have an Athlete With A Disability
(AWAD) category.
Athena and Clydesdale
There are two prize categories for both men and women. Clydesdale for
men who are 200lbs plus there will be a 39 years and younger category
and
a 40 years and older. Athena for women the age categories are the same
with the weight category being 150lbs plus.
Please note that you are only eligible to receive an award in one
category per race. If you are racing for an award you should enter in
the category
in which you want to compete. We believe that this policy will make it
more fun and allow more people to participate in the awards program.
Relays
Relay teams are all placed in one category no matter what the make up
of the team.
Age Categories - Birth Date Information
Adult age in a category is based on your age as of December 31,
2007.
Kids of Steel age categories are based on your age as of December 31, 2007.
There will be different age categories for individual racers with age group awards at each race and overall age group winners at the end of the season.

Race Day Insurance Fees and OAT (Ontario Association of Triathletes)
MultiSport Canada is a proud member of OAT and all of our races are OAT sanctioned. If you are an OAT member there are no additional fees beyond what is posted on the website. If you are not an OAT member you will have to pay the one-day OAT fee on the day of the race.
