2008 Race Day Prizes and Awards

The HSBC Triathlon Series Race Day Awards - You Get To Personalize Your Award

We are continuing our tradition of being the only race series that lets you personalize your race day awards. Age Group winners will receive a medal on race day as well as a personalized finishers picture courtesy of Mike Cheiak Photography. Award categories and prizing details are listed below.

The following information will outline the procedure for claiming a race day award. If at any time you have questions about this, please feel free to contact MultiSport at info@multisportcanada.com or Mike Cheliak at info@mikecheliak.com.

  1. Each award recipient will be identified both at the event awards presentation and on the MultiSport results page online.

  2. All recipients will use the following procedure to claim their award:

    • You will visit the www.mikecheliak.com website
    • You will locate the photo you would like used for your award from the event gallery
    • You will provide the photo details to info@mikecheliak.com and will include your name, race, placement, age group and finish time

Once you have supplied this information to Mike Cheliak you will have the following options:

  1. You can elect to have your print emailed to you in digital print ready format at no cost
  2. You can elect to have your print mailed to you at a cost of $6.00 payable via PayPal invoice
  3. You can have your award printed and picked up at the following race. If you are unable to collect your photo at the following race, it will be returned to Mike Cheliak and you will need to pay the $6 shipping and handling to collect the award.

No awards will remain on site after the following event. All photo awards from the previous seasons will be available for pick up until after the Welland Triathlon in July. Once that event has passed, all awards will be destroyed and no longer available.

While this change is a fairly drastic move from the previous years, it is also very exciting. As an athlete you can now pick and choose from a large selection of great photos from your run, swim or bike portion of the race and not just the finish line shots that were used in previous years. We all hope this new system will be more beneficial to all the athletes.

There are two prize categories. There will be a 39 years and younger category and a 40 years and older for both men and women.

Please note that you are only eligible to receive an award in one category per race. If you are racing for an award you should enter in the category in which you want to compete. We believe that this policy will make it more fun and allow more people to participate in the awards program.

The HSBC Racer Of The Day - It Could Be You

The HSBC Racer Of The Day returns in 2008 and once again at every race there will be at least one HSBC Racer Of The Day. That means in some race weekends there may be up to four athletes chosen. What does the HSBC Racer Of The Day receive?

There will be 27 prizes packages from Zoot given out throughout the 2008 season.

Each athlete chosen will receive one of the following three prize packages from Zoot Sports.

  1. A $300 Gift Certificate redeemable at a Zoot retailer for Zoot apparel and products
  2. A Zoot Tri Bag stuffed with 1 Race Belt, 2 pairs of Socks, 1 Water Bottle, 1 Hydrogrip, 1 Visor, 1 Hat and a 1 Tri Towel. Retail Value= $208
  3. A Zenith Wetsuit with a retail value of $660

The athlete will be chosen as follows:

  1. Prior to every race we will be selecting a "Finishers Position" for the day.
  2. This "Finishers Position" could be any number based on the Total number of entries for ALL races that day. As an example there might be a Give It A Tri, a Triathlon and a Duathlon on the same day (Like Lakeside on June 11th). The total number of entrants for those three races might be 500. We will pick a number between 1 and 500. The athlete who crosses the finish line in the position will be the HSBC Racer Of The Day.

We are really excited about the HSBC Racer Of The Day and hope you will be as well. It is just another example of HSBC's commitment to our age group mass participation sport and our series.

HSBC and Mike Cheliak Photography Present "Shot Of The Race"

A new feature of the 2008 series is the Mike Cheliak Photography “Shot of the Race”. It will be the photo that best exemplifies the fun, competition and dedication that the series is about. Make sure you smile when Mike is around because you’ll never know if you might be the Shot of the Race. Each winner will receive a plaque mounted 8x10 photo of their winning shot. The photo can be picked up at t future race or it can be shipped at no cost to the winner.
