One of our most longstanding events in a place that you’ve probably never heard of!  Nestled in rural Oxford County just south of St. Mary’s and surrounding Lake Sunova, Lakeside is truly a Rural Gem! 

The water in Lake Sunova stays clean and clear all year round being a spring-feed lake.

Swim Course 

In the clean waters of Lake Sunova which stays warm into September.  Water temperatures tend to be in the 21-24C (70F to 75F) range.  

Air temperatures can be a bit cooler in September, so wetsuits are recommended for the Olympic and Sprint so you start the bike nice and warm 

Bike Course 

Roll through idyllic farmlands in Oxford County on low-traffic roads.  

These are both SHARED ROAD Courses, so be sure to follow all safe riding practices

IMPORTANT

Please watch your speed! A friendly reminder that the speed limit on Sunova Crescent is 50km/h. Lakeside community has many families living around the lake with small children. We ask that you reduce your speed and do not exceed the speed limit at any point during the event, whether you are arriving or leaving. Thank you for your diligence.

Lakeside Resort will also charge a fee to spectators of the events a fee of $5.00 per spectator with a portion of the proceeds going to the church in Lakeside. This fee is similar but less than would normally be paid at a Conservation Area. Bring your swimsuits and enjoy the beach after the athletes have finished the swim portion of the race.

IMPORTANT – THERE ARE NO DOGS ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY OF LAKESIDE RESORT.

Why do I need to purchase a Triathlon Ontario Membership or One Day Fee during registration?

Triathlon Ontario supports the development of safe multisport in Ontario. All participants are required to purchase a One Day Fee for an additional $9.00 OR provide a valid Triathlon Ontario Membership Number.

For Kids of Steel Events, the One Day Triathlon Ontario fees are as follows:

3-5 – $4.00
6-7 – $4.00
8-9 – $7.00
10-11 – $7.00
12-15 – $7.00

Why do I have to pay a processing fee with my registration?

Race Roster allows participants to select their desired event(s), enter personal information, and process payment. Log in to Race Roster to manage registration for your event(s), edit your email address, and set communication preferences. If you experience any errors or have questions about processing fees, please reach out to support@raceroster.com

Registration Dates & Deadlines

Register by Sunday, August 18th to receive a T-Shirt with the Event Logo, registrations received after Sunday, August 18th will receive a T-Shirt with our Series Logo.

Any Transfers or deferrals MUST be initiated and completed by 11:59PM on Wednesday, August 28th. See Registration Info HERE.

Register by Sunday, Sept 1st to receive a personalized bib with your name. Registrations received after Sunday, Sept 1st will receive a non-personalized race bib.

Registration closes on Wednesday, Sept 4th at 9AM.

Communication

The Pre-Event Notice will be sent on Wednesday, August 28th by 9PM. It will contain important info such as Course Details, Final Event Schedule, Retailers in Attendance, and other tips for the event.

The Final Event Notice will be sent on Thursday, September 5th by 9PM. It will contain important information such as your Bib Number, Wave Start Time, Water Temperature, and Parking Suggestions.    

The Post-Event Report will be published in the News Feed in the middle of the week following the event. We will send notifications to all registered participants as well as include a social media post. A Post-Event Report will contain links to our photo galleries, results, and any other articles written about the event.

Start Details

To create a Safe, Fun and Fair event, during registration for the Olympic and Sprint Triathlon Events, we ask for your Projected Finishing Time. We use these times to create our Start Waves – Fastest to Slowest. If your Projected Finishing Time was not requested for your event, we will assign bibs by Age – (Youngest to Oldest).

All Kids of Steel Events will feature traditional Age Group Wave Starts from The Beach – see below

All Duathlon Events feature a Mass Start on the road at the Lakeside Resort Entrance. All Olympic, Give-it-A-Tri and Sprint Swim Bike Events feature a Wave Start of approx. 50-70 participants based on Age – (Youngest to Oldest) from the beach.

All Olympic and Sprint Triathlon Events feature Wave Starts based on Projected Finishing Time – (Fastest to Slowest) from the beach.
