Course Details
Run – 10km
The Duathlon Start is in under the Finish Line.
After the start you will veer LEFT to run on the grass with the tree line on your right. There is a slight uphill here as you run towards Santa’s Village Rd. The course exits Annie Williams Park through the gate which is a small secondary park entrance/exit. Once you reach the road you will TURN RIGHT and run along the sidewalk until you reach Wellington St. S. At Wellington you will TURN RIGHT and run in a coned lane, across the bridge crossing the Muskoka River until you reach Beaumont Dr where you will TURN RIGHT. This is approximately the 800m point in the run. The course runs on the Right (North) side of Beaumont for 100m and then you will cross to the LEFT SIDE of Beaumont Dr. under Police direction so that you are now running FACING TRAFFIC.
Beaumont is a winding road so please stay to the left and be aware that there are vehicles on the course. You will run along Beaumont until the turn-around point at 5km, just past Stephens Bay Rd.
The course is out and back so all of the previous descriptions remain the same but in reverse order.
There will be Aid Stations at 3km and 7km serving Water and F2C HYDRA-DURANCE™ – click HERE for more information on F2C HYDRA-DURANCE™.
Bike – 40km
0 to 10km – You will exit Transition to the Mount line located on the paved path within Annie Williams Park. There is a section of approximately 100m within the park that is a NO PASSING section. Please respect the fact that passing in this section could be dangerous. You do not know the bike handling skills of other cyclists. Once you get to the entrance to Annie Williams Park you will be directed to turn LEFT onto Santa’s Village Road.
The course heads west out of Bracebridge on Santa’s Village Road/Golden Beach Road. There are several residences on this section of the course so ride with care. This section of the course features rolling terrain on winding roads.
10km to Finish
After the 10km mark you will make the left onto Hwy 118 riding the large paved shoulder while being challenged by some smooth rolling hills. You will reach the small waterfront cottage area of Milford Bay making the left on Butter & Eggs, then onto Milford Bay Rd. and continuing back to Hwy 118 for the return. Along 118 you will make a right onto Cedar Beach Rd. (freshly rebuilt & repaved), which will connect you to make the right onto Golden Beach and back to race site after re-tracing your steps along Santa’s Village Rd.
Be sure to watch your speed on the final turn back into Annie Williams Park and to follow the signs as the pathway forks 100m after entering the park. You reach the Dismount Line from a different direction than you came-out from the Mount Line.
